EDF UK, in partnership with Capgemini, has launched a major digital engineering transformation to support its nuclear power station projects. At the core of this initiative is a shift from traditional document-centric processes to a data-centric engineering model, enabled by an Integration Centre of Excellence (ICoE) built on MuleSoft technology. This approach aims to unify data across teams, reduce project delays, and accelerate time-to-market for nuclear construction and commissioning efforts.

EDF’s New Nuclear Build Generation Company (NNB GenCo) is responsible for delivering large-scale nuclear power stations such as Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C. Historically, engineering teams have relied on document-based workflows, which can lead to duplication, versioning issues, and inefficiencies in data access. Capgemini’s solution replaces these outdated systems with a connected digital ecosystem that centralises data, enhances traceability, and facilitates better decision-making.

With the implementation of MuleSoft and the establishment of the ICoE, EDF has automated over 50 integration flows. This integration layer connects over a dozen systems, supporting a wide range of use cases across engineering, compliance, and delivery.
